Akshay Ramanathan’s Speaker Qualifications

Akshay Ramanathan has been a Career Coach and Professional Development mentor for 15years. He holds a bachelor's and master's degree from New York University. Through his innovative work in sales and marketing, he has propelled high-growth hospitality tech startups to succeed in international markets across Europe, the Middle East, and South America. He has lived in Dubai, Argentina, India, Miami, Los Angeles, and New York City. He has been a featured guest at New York University’s Wasserman School of Career Development. Akshay has given presentations on various topics, including but not limited to choosing careers and searching for jobs, and his signature talk on “Building A Professional Network.”

As an accomplished alumnus of NYU’s Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management, he’s a frequent lecturer in the classroom, advising students on leveraging their skills to build successful careers. While in graduate school, he served as President of the Hospitality Graduate Society and was appointed the youngest board member to the prestigious Hospitality Sales & Marketing Int’l industry board. His academic and industry contributions earned him recognition in journals like Hotel Business News. He presently serves as the President of the NYU Tisch Hospitality Alumni society and was featured on the SPS Alumni Panel during welcome week.

Upon completing his Master's Degree, Akshay was recruited to join the leading technology and digital consulting agency in the hospitality industry.

After 3 years, he left to launch his own boutique luxury travel company. While successful, the impact of COVID, personally and professionally, inspired him to pivot and build Six Figure Success from his passion for serving students, professionals, and small businesses.

He advises high school students on writing college admissions essays, college students on landing internships or post-graduate jobs, and guides experienced veterans on changing careers. Full-time recruiters are expensive, so he offers consulting services for small businesses that need to hire great candidates but may not have the budget for a full-time recruiter.

Akshay has strong ties to the community and has dedicated over 10 years to supporting Streetwise Partners. SWP is a non-profit that helps students develop critical business skills such as resume and cover letter writing, job search strategies, and interview preparation. His students have led successful careers at companies like Deloitte, Bloomberg, PNC Bank, and BlackRock.

He brings a refreshingly unique and individual perspective to career growth, skill development, and, more recently, ideas on monetizing your passion in today’s technology and media-enabled environment.

Partners

Akshay had a clear vision of what he was seeking but needed the help of a skilled graphic artist to bring his ideas to life. After an exhausting search for unqualified designers, he found me. A testament to his ability to see the strengths in others, he quickly realized we would make for a great team.

What began as 1 simple assignment has spawned into several major projects. We continue to maintain a strong relationship, often inviting one another to industry events, ensuring our education and exposure to creative ideas are up to date.

He is a wonderful client to work with and trusts my expertise and process, thus enabling me to do my best work. In leadership roles, as a colleague and friend, I give him my strongest recommendation.
